Valesca is a 10-year-old literacy student who has never attended public school. Her mother had previously joined our Adult Education/Literacy Program so she asked if we could help her daughter as well. Valesca’s mother had lost custody of her to her ex husband, but through the assistance of “The Ministry of the Family”, a family service organization in Nicaragua, Valezca’s custody was given back to her mother and she immediately started attending our center. She now knows all of her vowels, the alphabet, and is able to construct short sentences.
Valesca’s life has certainly changed for the better and we couldn’t be happier for her!
