Dear Friends,
Fall has arrived with many blessings, and we’re pleased to share much good news (and one important need) with you.
Most who contribute to Neighbors to Nicaragua have never seen, first-hand, the results of the people they help, but they have faith that what they do…matters. It does…a great deal.
Thank you for all you do with such faith and kindness. Our abilities to show adequate appreciation pales in comparison to your faith and generosity.
On Monday, October 18th, we will purchase the first lot of building materials to begin construction on our new center in November. And pending the outcome of this coming week’s CDC-approval of vaccination boosters, we look forward to returning to Nicaragua again right after Thanksgiving to review our progress and to report our work to you.
Our continued thanks you for all you do,
Chuck
A FAMILY IN NEED
This is Candelaria.
She is a widow with four children (three are pictured here) who earns a little money by washing and ironing clothes for others in the city. We have been helping Candelaria and her family for several years with food and education. Since we opened our center, two of her children have learned to read and write.
There is no functional bathroom or kitchen in the one-room tin home where they live near our center. There is one bed and an outdoor room separated from the house by sheets for privacy.
We want to expand the living space, put in a functioning bathroom, buy a few beds, and install a place to cook. Our contractor this week told us this would cost about $3,000.00
We are trying to raise the funds to improve her quality of living. If you are able to help, please let us know.
In advance, thanks so much!

HOW TO PARTY WITH PURPOSE
THESE MEN KNOW WHO TO HAVE A GREAT TIME…FOR THEMSELVES AND FOR OTHERS!
On October 1st, the UD Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau enjoyed a picture-perfect day of golf at the Deerfield Country Club to benefit Neighbors to Nicaragua with a gift of over $3,500.
This warm-spirited group of men has raised over $200,000 for N-2-N during the past five years. Our sincerest thanks to Michael Keenan and all the volunteers who work so hard to make this possible. They are amazing!
THAT FACE!
Last week was the scheduled baptism of the daughter of Edwin Garcia, one of our university students who will graduate in 2022. Her name is Rose Esmeralda Garcia Baldizón.
Up until last Saturday – the day before the baptism – he and his wife were counting on borrowing a dress. When it didn’t come through, he wrote to us in a panic.
Who could say no to THIS?
I wrote to ask permission to put this in our update. He said, “Yes…and please, please… give our thanks, our deepest appreciation.”
