Founded in 2012
Neighbors to Nicaragua’s primary work is in Nueva Esperanza, a barrio (whose name means “new hope”) in one of Nicaragua’s poorest areas just south of Granada.
Our vision for Neighbors to Nicaragua began in April 2011 when founder Chuck Selvaggio traveled to Granada, Nicaragua to study Spanish. After seeing many homeless youths, Chuck wanted to help with education and programs that would ease the effects of poverty in the area he visited.
How we help
Be part of that vision. Continue Chuck’s good work. By donating, you help ensure that Neighbors to Nicaragua thrives into its second decade.
Support a student
Neighbors to Nicaragua meets its many financial obligations through direct support between our students and their sponsors. Please sponsor one of our students for only $70 a month or $840 annually. See our contact page if you have questions or want more information. Thank you.
Every face in this collage represents a child who showed up, sometimes hungry, often behind, always full of potential. When I first walked through Nueva Esperanza, I made a quiet promise to do what I could. Years later, it’s your generosity that keeps that promise. A sponsorship of just $70 a month gives a student the tutoring, encouragement, and stability they need to build a real future. These kids aren’t statistics. They’re neighbors. Please consider sponsoring a student today.
